"Eat, drink, and be merry!" -- this old adage is never more true than at a wedding. Good food and friends go hand in hand with a good time. It's hard to separate the two. Culturally, humans (that'd be us) have designated nearly all events of note with a special festivity of fine foods and dining. No matter where we are in the world, be it the dusty, rugged terrain of Jordan to the immaculate yet nervous alter, it's a safe bet that food will soon follow or precede the occasion.

I've been to several weddings. I hope no one is offended (sorry, Aunt Caroline!) when I state the following: wedding food sucks. OK, bridal shower and baby shower festivities have quite the tasty treats and even professional catering with requests. But weddings? Heck no! It's awful. I have a sweet tooth, so I used to think the best part of the wedding was eating enough wedding cake to slip into a well-stuffed hyperglycemic coma. That is until I actually taste the wedding cake.

I don't know who's in charge of taste testing those weddings, but many a cake tastes so rancid I've actually wondered if it is in violation of state and/or Federal health codes! Alright, I'm exaggerating a pinch. Some weddings actually did the guests a favor by serving a big, fat wedding cake that'd make Betty Crocker green with envy, but you gotta side with me as it pertains to the rarity of it all. Hopefully, you've had a better wedding or bridal shower experience than me.

But that's my point. Tasty treats are so, so important. It's kinda like eating at a restaurant that has a so-so entree, but totally awesome appetizers (cheese sticks, anyone?). Seeing that every wedding, bridal shower, and baby shower has a slew of wedding favors, why not create an atmosphere of salivating tongues and wide eyes with the coolest "flavor" wedding flavors? Now we're talking! Or, eating. Whatever.
